Ear Infections

Ear infections or otitis media account for more than 35% of visits to the pediatrician each year.  According to the American Chiropractic Association almost half of all children will have at least one middle ear infection before they’re 1 year old and two-thirds of them will have an ear infection by the age of 3.

Common signs your child may be experiencing an ear infection include: tugging or pulling at the ear(s), crying, trouble sleeping, fever, problems with balance, trouble hearing, etc.

Despite the routine use of antibiotics, incidence of ear infections (otitis media) with fluid (effusion) in the United States has increased by 250% from 1975-1990.  Chiropractors typically find nerve pressure in the upper neck of children who suffer from ear infections.  A chiropractic adjustment to the specific area of the neck has shown great results in helping with ear infections.   With a Chiropractic adjustment, the nerves affecting the ear can be freed from interference allowing the ear to drain off any fluid and function properly.  If left uncorrected, chronic infections can lead to permanent hearing damage or loss as well as developmental delays.
