Did you know that according to the Johns Hopkins University, the typical American goes through more physical, chemical and emotional stress in thirty days, than their grandparents did in their entire lifetime? What is so dangerous about this? Stress impacts the stress hormone, Cortisol,  secreted by the adrenal gland. Too much cortisol can cause a large number of health problems. How can we help our bodies adapt to the stress around us? Chiropractic Care is one way! We now have many research studies that show how general stress negatively affects the brain, but also specifically how altered spinal alignment and range of motion negatively affects the brain. One study found that spinal manipulation improved the overall function of the prefrontal cortex of the brain. The prefrontal cortex is known to play a vital in “executive functions”. Executive function are essentially the bodies ability to operate various neural systems to solve problems and achieve goals in the ever-changing environment around us. Chiropractors are trained to detect misalignments in the spine that cause pressure and stress on the nerves. Finding those areas and correcting the misalignment helps restore function to the nervous system and allows your body to function as it was designed to!
